Detroit Public Safety HQ

Detroit, Michigan

The former (temporary) MGM Grand Casino on Third Street off of the Lodge freeway in downtown Detroit was transformed from a building with a lot of glitz and gold accents to one with a more industrial look for the new Detroit Public Safety Headquarters (DPSH). The DPSH is a complex which accommodates the headquarters for the Detroit Police Department, Detroit Fire Department, Detroit Emergency Medical Service as well as a forensics laboratory for the Michigan State Police. The new $60 million public safety complex opened its doors on June 28, 2013.

TEC was retained by the Detroit Building Authority to provide extensive environmental consulting services including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs), Due Care Plans, hazardous materials surveys, bidding specification preparation, contractor coordination, hazardous material removal oversight, and extensive client consultation at the former MGM Grand Temporary Casino site.
